“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In those choices lie our growth and our happiness.” — Stephen R. Covey

This is not a new concept for me but when I read it in the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The way he rephrase it is almost like a lightly that struck into my brain. All my brain cells and nerves reconnect again. It was almost like I heard it for the first time " there is a space ..."
Sometimes that space may mean letting go of our ego, letting go of our past, letting go of hatred and unforgiving.
We all face the same thing, but it is our decision to choose how we want to response from that situation. Yes, you may say , " no, my situation is different from them, I lost my mother and my father became a alcoholic. " Yes , you are right , your situation is different from others and I would never understand what you are going through. But there are other people having the same story as you in this world. And that is where the space between stimulus and responses lies. The space for you to choose to make a difference or to be like what most people would do , complain and blame. Remember this, we all have the freedom to choose, and in our choices lie growth and happiness.
Take full ownership, and don't put the false on others .
